Teaching Environmental Change 2000

Our environment under pressure ...

Environmental changes affect us all but are complex and inadequately understood. Their consequences will become increasingly evident as we proceed through the 21st Century. It is important that we understand what is happening and why lifestyle adjustments are required to combat and adapt to changes. Education today is important to ensure greater levels of understanding tomorrow.

TEC2000 aimed to promote the use of information from research and monitoring for teaching about environmental change in schools. The meeting focussed on the use and development of computer-based tools to deliver teaching materials. This free event was held at The Royal Society (London) on the 27th October 2000.

A follow-up section has been added to the web site.  This gives a list of published articles and follow-up work that have occurred as a result of TEC2000.

TEC2000 was organised by the Environmental Change Network (ECN) and funded by a NERC award for ideas to help communicate science to the public in the Year 2000. The event also had support from The Royal Society.
